Upcoming Workshops

Negative Painting, It’s All About Layering With Watercolour with Elayne Preston – Wed Sept 17

Negative space painting, also known as reverse or negative painting, is a technique where the focus is on painting the area around a subject (the negative space) rather than the subject itself (the positive space). The process is repeated, building layers of design & colour. The concept activates the right side of your brain. Once you understand the process, there are so many ways to use it – and with so many different mediums. Have some fun experimenting!

Watercolour 101 with Scott Pleydell Pearce – Sat Sept 20 and Sun Sept 21

Always wanted to learn to paint in watercolour but too intimidated to try this notoriously difficult medium? Started but failed miserably in pools of watery frustration? Everything turning to mud on you? Come and join Scott Pleydell-Pearce, renowned and highly regarded watercolour artist and teacher as he takes you through this 2-day weekend workshop of “Watercolour 101 – starting from the ground up.”

Drawing with Lea Price – Mon Oct 6 and Mon Oct 20 afternoons

Come learn how to “play” again. I only have 3 rules : wear old clothes, as art can be messy, don’t take yourself too seriously, and learn to have fun. I think my main responsibility as a mentor is to listen to each person to understand what they want to achieve and teach everyone to learn how to “see”.

All About Gouache with Tom Taylor – Sat Oct 18

Are you like me and thinking Gouache is used to just add highlights to a watercolour painting? Well, apparently not. You can actually do an entire painting in Gouache. Tom will explain more about Gouache and how to best use it. You will learn what is the difference between Gouache and other mediums, when and why Tom uses Gouache instead of Acrylic or watercolour paints.

Seascapes in Oil or Acrylic with Chris MacClure – Sat Nov 15 & Sun Nov 16

Having trouble showing depth in your seascapes? Waves don’t look realistic? Chris will explain these and more.
